We’re in mid-December already. Soon we will be starting a new year and people will be thinking about their goals for 2016. If gaining control of your finances, getting out of debt, saving for college, or saving on your income taxes are some of your goals, consider attending one or more of our workshops. The workshops will be held in January 2016.

The first workshop will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9. Through this workshop you will learn why buying items on credit can cost you way more than paying cash. You will also learn simple strategies to save for those items rather than using credit.

The second workshop will also be held on Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. During this workshop, the participants will develop a spending plan. The lessons learned in this workshop will also help you get out of debt or avoid getting into debt.

Workshop number three will be held on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. This is a specialized workshop for folks who participate in their employer’s employee stock option plan or receive restricted stock from their employer. During this workshop, participants will learn what documents and other information they need to make sure they are not paying double tax on some of their income. This workshop will also discuss some issues related to stock splits.

The fourth workshop will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10 a m. This workshop is all about paying for college. The title of the workshop actually says it all: “Paying for College (Without Breaking the Bank).” If you are a future college student and would like to graduate from college without a lot of debt or you are a parent or a grandparent of a future college student, this workshop is for you. You will learn about minimizing the cost of college, college savings opportunities, and financial aid options.

Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. will be the time of the final workshop. During this workshop, we will walk through the U.S. tax return, learning what documents you need and actions you can take to help you navigate your personal tax return.

If you would like more information on any of these workshops, please contact us by email [email protected] or by phone 402-502-0250. We’ll update you on costs and locations, and let you know when online registration is available.
