We don’t like to admit it, but financial stress triggers a whole host of emotional responses—fear, frustration, anger to name a few. In addition, financial stress often leads to marital and family turmoil. Sometimes the financial stress is caused by debt or a life event such as a job loss or a serious illness. Other times, financial stress is felt prior to a life event such as retirement or a child heading off to college.
If you would like help managing your financial stress and gaining control of your financial situation, consider attending a series of four financial education workshops called The Solution to Your Financial Puzzle. They will be presented by Judith Ackland, owner of Crystal Financial Solutions, LLC. The workshops will be held on Oct. 14 at Enterprise Center, 4611 South 96th St. in Omaha.
The first session, Banking, Credit, and Savings, will begin at 8:30 a.m. The difference between debit and credit cards, how compound interest works, and how you can use the power of compounding to save you money on purchases will be a few of the topics of discussion.
At 10 a.m., the second session, Spending Plan and Debt Buster, will begin. During this session, the group will develop and refine a spending plan and learn how a few small changes can make a big difference in getting out of debt.
For those stressing out about how to pay for college, the 1 p.m. session is for you. Paying for College without Breaking the Bank will show you many different ways to reduce the cost of college, utilize financial aid, and save for college.
The final session, Income Tax and Employee Stock Options, will be held at 3 p.m. During this workshop, you will learn what records you need to keep and what information to obtain to make sure you are not paying more tax than you are legally obligated to pay.
